Tide of Trash 25 by Rubbish Reinvented

Swansea MAD is proud to host the inspiring eco-art exhibition, Tide of Trash 25, created by the talented artist Rubbish Reinvented. Known for her passion for environmental conservation, Lin Williams—the artist behind Rubbish Reinvented—has spent over 13 years transforming plastic waste into stunning pieces of art.

About the Artist

Lin Williams’s journey into eco-art began with her commitment to highlighting the harmful effects of plastic pollution on nature. Using single-use plastic bags and beach waste collected from Porthcawl’s beaches, she creates intricate and meaningful works of art. Her process involves shredding plastic bags by hand, crocheting backings, and meticulously assembling cleaned beach waste into striking designs.

Her dedication has earned her features in catwalks and fashion shows for SustFash Wales, S4C, and Bridgend College. Lin also engages communities by running workshops with schools and groups, where participants learn to create art from waste—a truly hands-on experience.

Tide of Trash 25

This exhibition features four impactful pieces crafted entirely from plastic waste. Each piece is a visual reminder of the urgent need to address plastic pollution:

  • Plastic Paradise (£95): A vibrant scene of ocean beauty, made from discarded plastic bags and beach debris.
  • Ships on a Sweet Wrapper Sea (£95): A playful yet poignant commentary on the impact of plastic on marine life.
  • Waste Waterfall on the Litter Lake (£65): A depiction of waste flowing into waterways, highlighting the consequences of pollution.
  • Spring Salvage (£95): A hopeful piece symbolizing renewal and change through conscious action.

Workshops and Engagement

Lin’s workshops offer a unique opportunity to experience the art-making process firsthand. By engaging with materials and learning about sustainability, participants contribute to reducing plastic waste while exploring their creativity.
