We are delighted to be displaying the excellent work of Simeon Smith at Swansea MAD for the next couple of months.
Simeon is a multi-disciplinary, Swansea based artist who makes films, music, images and games. He attributes the anti-establishment, introspective themes of his work to his upbringing in Spain where he was homeschooled by Christian fundamentalist parents. His work has been featured by Lomography, Amateur Photography Magazine, on the Presence App and at London Fashion Week.
Smith lets his hands guide him when creating. He uses intuition which often gives way to conscious thought, his work embraces the unknown and pursues personal discovery and connection.
His exhibition Overlapping features three pieces all of which are 11×4 acrylic boards:
- Our Overlapping Lives
- If I’d Known Before We’d Met
- I’ve Already Seen This Dawn
According to Simeon, Overlapping explores how amid an ongoing culture war and divided communities, the disparate values and viewpoints of our divided society are forced to overlap in our families, friendship groups, places of work and communities.
Simeon’s art will be featured at the Swansea MAD office until the end of March so don’t hesitate to come and see it for yourself!
