New Exhibition: The Cosmos, Nature & Spirituality – Teresa Chambers

We are pleased to be hosting a new exhibition of artwork at Swansea MAD, by Teresa Chambers.

Paintings in texturised acrylics, and gold leaf.

Considering the mesmerising power of natural forces and the effect on the human psyche. Throughout human history we have contemplated and worshipped nature, the sun, the moon.

Exploring Druid and pagan love of The Sun and the Moon

The power and reverence of symbols.

I looked at traditional religious iconography and wondered how our current world leaders and innovators might be viewed in the future. The result was Musk – deified.

Teresa graduated from Roehampton University London with a 2:1 in Drama and Art. She co-founded a theatre company, On Your Feet, devising and co-writing their own play Inside Out, performed at the Tara Arts Centre, London. She then joined other profit share theatre companies and toured as stage designer, scenic painter, musician, singer, actress and Director’s Assistant. She has performed at The Bonn International festival of Physical Theatre (Germany), The Edinburgh Festival, Padua (Italy), Wimborne Festival of Theatre in the Round, and The Gate Theatre, London. She also sang in several bands and busked all over London.

She then settled into a career in magazine publishing as a promotional copywriter but her love of painting was always burning in the background and she trained as a jewellery designer.

Since moving to Swansea in 2010, she has joined several art groups including Swansea Art Society (exhibited in the Grand Theatre) and took a workshop at the Elysium gallery. A spin off from an Elysium arts project is her current band, House of Queenie Flowers with keyboard player Jacqui Harris Cooze, drummer Andrew Griffiths, bass player Mike Cassar and singer Nez Features. She also ran a regular painting group at the Hub on the Hill Community Centre in Mount Pleasant pre-COVID

You can find her artworks and jewellery as artjewellerychambers in various places including redbubble, ebay, etsy, Instagram and teresachambersartworks on facebook.

The Cosmos, Nature & Spirituality will be displayed at Swansea MAD until 10th January. You can visit the exhibition between 10am-4pm Tuesdays-Fridays.
