After being fortunate enough to have two incredible exhibitions already up in our Swansea MAD office, we realized we had one more space available to display another. As of Friday, we are very excited to have Suhaila Mohammed displaying her artwork in our office.

Suhaila is a Swansea-based artist and public health care professional with a passion for art therapy and using art for holistic wellness. She enjoys all forms of art, from drums to dance and, most dearly, painting. When discussing her experiences as an artist, Suhaila said: “I have been an abstract artist for many years now and have participated in several exhibitions and competitions. But most recently I have started to learn and practice other art forms, particularly painting landscapes. I believe in art that has a purpose, that sends a message or expresses feelings. Art has helped me heal from very difficult wounds and I hope to one day become an art therapist and engage other in this beautiful healing activity”. Suhaila also founded MHMA, Mental Health Mediated by Art, to raise awareness of various mental health issues and how art therapy should be used to improve wellness.

Suhaila’s exhibition ‘Healing the Night’ is a small collection to showcase the importance of healing the earth. It encapsulates the stunning colours of the night sky with beautiful silhouettes of the earth below. The paintings use the contrasting night sky and silhouettes to show that the skies remain the same because we can’t able to reach them, but the earth, on the other hand, has become pale and dark by our own hands. Suhaila wants to promote the importance of taking action to heal the Earth and maintain its beauty.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with Suhaila and exhibiting her work and we feel incredibly fortunate that Suhaila has chosen to display her work with us.
